United States Christmas Bird Counts (CBC) reported 667 species, 81 infraspecific forms (forms), and 40 exotic species (ex). The Mottled Owl at Falcon Dam S.P., TX, was a new species for a U.S. CBC. California led all states with high tallies of 125 species, 25 forms, and 20 ex. Texas placed 2nd with high counts of 93 species, 8 forms, 2 ex and 3 cw. Florida was 3rd with high counts for 90 species, 3 forms and 13 ex. These were followed by Hawaii with high tallies for 71 species, 4 forms and 2 ex, Arizona with high tallies for 64 species, 3 forms and 1 cw, Alaska 35 species and 1 form, Washington 22 species and 1 form, Massachusetts 20 species and 2 forms, Oregon 17 species and 4 forms, Louisiana 17 species, 1 form and 1 cw, Colorado 14 species and 9 forms, and New York 12 species and 5 forms. One third more of the new all-time high count records topped or matched older records of the previous decade. The remaining new records were scattered across the previous decades with 4 records tied the all-time highest from 29-41 years ago. A report of 50,000 Bonin Petrels at Laysan Island, HI, 29 years ago was matched at Midway Atoll, HI, this season. One White-eared Hummingbird reported at Ramsey Canyon, AZ, during the 93rd season was also tallied during this season.
