School Field Trips at Montezuma Audubon Center

Inspiring children today to conserve the earth tomorrow

Elementary

Nature Detectives: Pre-K & K
Children will heighten their senses by playing sensory guessing games, learning how to use binoculars and hand lenses, and solving a natural mystery.

Montezuma Wild Wetlands: Pre-k - 5th
Students will discover pond life using dip nets, explore the soaring life of Montezuma’s birds, and learn about why wetlands are an important habitat.

Montezuma Migration Sensation: 3rd - 5th
Students will become citizen scientists by documenting Montezuma’s birds by sight and sound and play interactive activities to explore the world of bird migration.

Green Means Grow: 3rd - 5th
Students will use nets to explore pond critters and the plants they depend on, explore the process of photosynthesis through a relay race, and participate in a project to help restore Montezuma’s habitats for birds.

6th Grade & Up

Montezuma’s Living Environment: 6th & Up
Students will explore the wild side of Montezuma; learn how plants and animals depend on each other, and how human dimensions and activities have a profound impact on the physical environment.

Conservation Volunteer Opportunities: 6th & Up
Students will put on a pair of work gloves to get involved with real conservation projects from planting native vegetation, restoring habitat, and surveying for a variety of bird species.

Logistics and Standards

Program Pricing
  • $15/student, no cost for teachers or chaperones
  • Minimum program cost per class: $150   $50 deposit taken off total cost
  • A full reimbursement will be given if the MAC cancels. If school cancels with less than 3 weeks notice, the $50 deposit will be kept.
Logistics
  • Program length: 1.5 – 2 hours
  • Classes are welcome to bring bagged lunches to eat at the Center.
  • Dress for the outdoors!
    Our programs will run in all weather conditions unless there is severe inclement weather. Boots, jackets, old shoes are highly suggested.

Connect Kids to Parks grant supporting FREE field trips!

We are a part of the Connect Kids to Parks field trip grant where schools receive a FULL reimbursement of field trip and transportation costs. All you need to do is apply!
