Dr. Simpson, who is a family physician in Hot Springs, has taken an active role in Arkansas conservation and environmental causes for more than four decades. A charter member of The Nature Conservancy in Arkansas and a current member of the Pollution Control and Ecology Commission, Simpson was instrumental in founding the Central Arkansas Land Trust and currently serves as president of the board. He served as Chief of Staff of Ouachita Memorial Society and as an officer of numerous other organizations, including Garland County Medical Society, Levi Memorial Hospital, National Park Medical Center, Arkansas Native Plant Society, Friends of the Parks, and the Non-game Preservation Committee.
Board certified in Family Medicine, Simpson graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School, and received post-graduate training at Charlotte North Carolina Memorial Hospital.
Newly-elected Board Chairman, Miles Goggans, commented on Dr. Simpson’s election to the board: “It’s a pleasure to welcome John Simpson to the Audubon Arkansas Board of Trustees. He has been a strong advocate for conservation of our natural world, a healthy environment, and other quality of life issues all his adult life. We are fortunate to have the benefit of Dr. Simpson’s years of conservation experience as we work to protect and restore Arkansas’s natural treasures.”

Riggs of Little Rock; Ann Shackelford of Montrose; Kevin Smith of Helena; and Michael “Bo” Verser of Heber Springs.
