Audubon New Mexico Director of Freshwater Conservation, Beth Bardwell, released the following statement upon the news today that New Mexico Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich introduced the New Mexico Drought Relief Act of 2014.

“We thank Senators Udall and Heinrich for taking a comprehensive approach to addressing drought and securing a sustainable water supply for both people and nature,” said Beth Bardwell, Director of Freshwater Conservation for Audubon New Mexico. “The bill introduced today utilizes innovative approaches to water management to optimize river health and water use to essentially do more with less water.  This is the kind of forward thinking that we need to better serve the varied interests and values dependent on healthy rivers in our arid state long into the 21st century.”
