Twice crowned “The Sexiest Man Alive” by People, actor Brad Pitt is famous, in part, for his divorce from Jennifer Anniston and his thus far six-year relationship with Angelina Jolie. But he is increasingly in the news for another love: living an environmental lifestyle and helping others do it too.
Last time we caught up with Pitt, he was helping to build green homes in New Orleans’ hurricane-ravaged Lower Ninth Ward. Now he’s dishing about how well that project illustrates that it’s possible to cut utility bills from as much as $300 to $30, sometimes more:
"You build it tight, sealing it; you build in the direction of the sun and the wind; and you use solar and water collection. It’s not that hard to do,” he recently told Parade. “But I’m still surprised it hasn’t caught on. There’s no excuse to build any other way if you’re building from the ground up.”
Bravo, Brad.
Now, if you’re wondering how you can follow Brad Pitt's advice and reduce your utility bills, Audubon Magazine has just the thing: A how-to guide that covers all the bases, whether you are a weekend DIYer or a full-time energy geek.
With these 25 tips you can take a page right out of Pitt’s script, and live a movie-star life (sans all those fussy Oscars, mansions, and blingy things).
