August 11, 2015, Alajuela, Costa Rica — A pigeon was apprehended while smuggling 14 grams of marijuana and 14 grams of cocaine into a Costa Rica prison. The bird was transporting the drugs via a fanny pack. The drugs were confiscated, and the pigeon was sent to a zoo.

August 12, 2015, Kirkleatham, United Kingdom — After a squirrel chewed through their enclosure, 10 African Taveta Golden Weavers escaped the Kirkleatham Owl Center. They made it as far as the nut feeder next door.

August 11, 2015, Australia — A Wedge-Tailed Eagle tackled a drone in mid-air, sending it tumbling 50 feet to the ground. The drone required $31 in repairs. The eagle was uninjured.
