August Wise

August joined Audubon Upper Mississippi as Senior Associate, Conservation Science in September 2024. In his role based at the Audubon Center at Riverlands near St. Louis, MO, August focuses on avian monitoring along bottomland forest habitat to relate back to management practices as well as manage the community science programs out of Riverlands. 

August earned his MS in biology at Saint Louis University studying urban waterbird communities. Previously having worked as a naturalist for the Missouri Department of Conservation and later as a geospatial data manager for the Forest Park Living Lab, he has been immersed in conservation work in the Saint Louis area since finishing his undergrad also at SLU. In his spare time, August enjoys the outdoors, birding, and woodworking.
