Land Guardian for the Seal River Watershed Alliance (Guest Blogger)

Chaz is Sayisi Dene First Nation. Before working with the Seal River Watershed Alliance, he worked at the North West Company as a grocery manager for 5 years. When he first arrived to Tadoule Lake, he heard more and more about the Seal River Watershed Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) and came to understand what an amazing initiative it was. Now he is working for this great cause.

Growing up, Chaz was raised around harvesting—mostly fishing but also a bit of hunting—so he understands how important it is to keep that historical part of life safe. He feels it's essential to create an IPA in the Seal River watershed because the land is so stunning and truly one-of-a-kind. The next ten generations and beyond need to experience it.

He likes to be outside as much as possible, taking his quad and going wherever it takes him. He is also with his partner, Alisha, and daughter Mila.
