Jacob Crawford

Forest Ecologist

Jacob joined Audubon Upper Mississippi River in 2025 as a Forest Ecologist. His primary focuses are to provide technical habitat enhancement assistance to landowners throughout the St. Croix River Valley in Minnesota and to lead the implementation of the Bird-Friendly Maple Project in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Jacob fostered his fascination with birds as a kid growing up in Vermont, which led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries biology with a minor in forestry at the University of Vermont.

Jacob went on to be a Forest Conservation Intern with Audubon Vermont and later served as the Community Science and Chapter Engagement AmeriCorps member. Following his service term, he moved to Oregon to participate as an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE) Bioacoustics Research Fellow with the US Forest Service.

In his free time, Jacob loves spending time outdoors, birding, hunting, fishing, and camping and is rarely caught without his binoculars at the ready!
