Kathryn Bernard
Kathryn joined Audubon in February 2024 as the Conservation GIS Specialist for the Upper Mississippi River and Great Lakes regional offices. In this role, she conducts spatial analysis and uses maps, data, and modeling to inform and communicate about Audubon’s conservation work across the region.
Kathryn was born and raised in northern Virginia and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia. After working for several years in the healthcare software industry, she decided to pursue a career in conservation. She received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in GIS and remote sensing for environmental conservation, and subsequently worked for The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin before joining Audubon.
In her free time, Kathryn enjoys rock climbing, running, cycling, gardening, and generally spending time outside around Madison.
