Sofía Lorda

Protected Areas Program Specialist

Sofía Lorda joined Audubon in May 2024 as Protected Areas Program Specialist with Audubon Americas. In her current role, Sofia focuses on supporting the implementation of Audubon Americas’ projects and initiatives related to the creation and management of subnational protected areas in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prior to joining Audubon, Sofía worked for over seven years as Project Manager with the High Conservation Value (HCV) Network, where she supported the implementation of various projects with sustainability standards and NGOs across Latin America, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico. She led the Strategy for the implementation of the HCV Approach in aquatic ecosystems and created and coordinated the Latin American HCV Working Group. Her passion for conservation led her to start a marine education initiative in Mexico.

Sofía holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and a Master’s in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford.
