Use LocationAlso known as Canadian Hemlock and Hemlock-Spruce, this tall, perennial, evergreen tree attains a height of 40 to 70 feet (though very old trees may grow much larger) and a spread of 25 to 35 feet. It is more shade-tolerant than many evergreens and bears short, soft needles and pendant, half-inch-long cones. This tree cannot tolerate drought conditions, growing best in cool, moist, rocky soils.
