Otherwise known as Western Bleedingheart, this is a perennial that gets its name from its drooping, heart-shaped flowers that may be pink, purple, yellow, or cream in color. With clusters of fern-like leaves near its base, this plant grows 6 to 18 inches tall in full sun to shade and moist, well-drained soil. This plant is toxic to humans in large amounts, and touching it may cause slight skin irritation.
