Otherwise known as Tough Bully, this evergreen, perennial shrub or tree can grow up to 36 feet tall. It has sturdy, flexible twigs and oval leaves with silky hairs coating the undersides. Pollinators are attracted to the fragrant clusters of tubular, white flowers, while birds and other wildlife eat the black berries. This shrub grows in full to partial sun, and in dry, sandy soils.
