Also called Northern Flannelbrush, Northern Fremontia, and California Slippery Elm, this perennial, spreading shrub grows up to 12 feet. It has olive green, felt-textured leaves, and large, showy, yellow flowers. This plant is drought tolerant and grows in partial shade and dry, well-drained, granitic soils.
