Also known as Indian Pink or simply Pinkroot, this is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial that reaches 1 to 2 feet tall. Its trumpet-shaped, red flowers with five pointed, yellow lobes bloom in June, highly attracting hummingbirds. Pinkroot grows in partial to full shade and moist, sandy, and fertile soils, tolerating drought and dry soils.
