Canyon Gooseberry, or Chaparral Currant, is a deciduous shrub that grows to 6 feet in height and width. It produces fragrant, spiky branches as well as small, maroon and white flowers in the spring. Canyon Gooseberry grows best in partial shade and dry soils; it is deciduous during the summer and will lose its leaves when heat or drought-stressed.
