Also known as Dahoon Holly or Cassena, this small evergreen tree or large shrub grows 20 to 30 feet tall and 8 to 15 feet wide in partial shade and moist soils. Female plants bear red fruits in the fall that persist through the winter, attracting various bird species. If Dahoon grows wild in your area, you most likely will not need to purchase a male plant to pollinate your female plant; ask your native plant retailer for more information.
